  • Just a few miles from where our regular Bill O’Neal lives, back in 1870 Maurice Barrymore (the great-grandfather of actress Drew Barrymore) was shot in a gunfight. Bill tells us all about it.

  • In the late 1800’s Fort Union, just north of Las Vegas, New Mexico, was the supply fort on the Santa Fe Trail for that whole section of the Southwest. Dakota talks to Chief of Interpretation, Frank Torres about this fort.

  • We're also talking to a couple of friends, Michael DuCharme and Jay Redfeather, from a venue that we've been watching develop over the last few years. It's Wild West Junction in Williams, Arizona.

  • While in South Dakota we went to a unique event outside of Wall called “The Artist’s Ride.” This week’s show takes place there.

  • We start with conversations with the “Boys from Illinois,” a group of mountain men re-enactors. Then we move to a group of men from Kansas who have the ability to dress in all styles of characters from the 1800’s and look the part.

  • We’re privileged to spend the second half of the show talking to Beverly Hawk a Lakota Indian. Beverly tells us about what it was like to be an Indian woman in the late 1800’s.

  • Then we’ll visit an 1800’s Indian buffalo jump. A buffalo jump is a place where the Indians herded buffalo off a cliff to get food for the winter.

  • During the second half of the show we’ll be giving Jim MacGregor a phone call to talk about a Kansas family by the name of the Benders. The Benders were mass murderers.
